Happy New Year

Happy New Year Bride & Groom
Trying to find the best photo of the year is of course impossible. But I still remember taking the street photo of the wedding couple at Stockholm City Hall so that is my pick. I took the top photo just after midnight from a window on the second floor at home. Gott nytt år everyone.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year 2022 Winter Count
Happy New Year. Here is a photo of the fireworks in Tungelsta. Snapped from the second floor at home a couple of minutes ago. Also Theme Day. Favorite photo of the year. So I give you my annual Winter Count Collage. One photo per month from last year. The January view is a favorite. Riddarholmen seen from Monteliusvägen on Mariaberget, Södermalm. February is a typical street shot, lots of people out and about, snapped at Ringvägen. In March, I attended my first ever, St. Patrick's Day Parade. It got under way at Kungsträdgården. April, and I was back at Kungsträdgården, this time for the Cherry Blossom. And you know what they say, third time's the charm, because walking through that same park in May I spotted the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde on her way to the Parliament House. I came home from the Stockholm Marathon race in June with way too many photos. But all the smiles made up for it. In July, I checked out the start of the big sailing race, Gotland Runt. from a few different locations. I took a lot of Summer photos in August, because that is what you do. I spotted the paddleboarders near Långholmen as I cycled over Västerbron. I saw Greta Thunberg a few times this year with Friday's For Future. In March, then in June, and finally in September. The Autumn snap is from Royal Djurgården. I visit the beach at Hökarängsbadet at least once every month, so that is the November photo. And of course, a photo of That Old Tree is always obligatory, so that is my choice for December.

Explosions in the sky

Happy New Year

Vendors around Sweden sold fireworks worth something like 250 million SEK this last week. And the fireworks were all used during the New Years Eve celebrations. That's around 26 SEK per person in the country (there's 9 600 000 of us, give or take). The population in Tungelsta is around 5000, which means that I watched 130 000 SEK exploding in the night sky during the ten minutes that I stood on the stairs at home taking photos of the spectacle. It looked like much more. Happy New Year everyone!

2007 is here

New Year Fireworks

As we entered 2007 I was standing on the living room roof downing some Champagne as I was trying to film and take pictures at the same time. Here's a picture from just a few minutes after midnight. Here's the video. Happy 2007 everyone!

Fireworks!

Schools Out For Christmas on Vimeo

Here's a bonus post. I was sitting in front of my computer when I noticed that the soccer pitch at the school was filling up with happy kids. The winter holiday was being celebrated with some fireworks. All I had to do was open a window and start filming.
