A bit controversial this. There used to be a popular theater here at Östermalmstorg. It was called Folkan, (The People's Theatre). That building was demolished some fifteen years ago. The owners claimed that there were too many problems with the deep foundation. So today we have this department store, and above it apartments and offices. This is the same square as the renovated
Saluhall that I showed you a few days ago.
Looking good. Lots of glass windows means lots of reflections.
ReplyDeleteSo the not so good foundation is good enough for a department store for this size? Still a beautiful facade though
ReplyDeleteI didn't visit during the construction, but I guess they found away to construct a new foundation after tearing down the old building.
ReplyDeleteA bit suspicious
ReplyDeleteIt looks imposing.
ReplyDeleteA nice looking facade. Joe and the Juice sounds like a club nams.
ReplyDeleteDanish chain, they sell juice and sandwiches all over the world. But I am yet to try them out.
DeleteI thought Stockholm is build on granite.
ReplyDeleteThe original building from 1850 was rebuilt several times as more floors were added. It was built where there once was a big garden. The wooden poles in the foundation were rotten according to a report presented by the owner 20 odd years ago.
