Pedestrian Crossings
That is Mr. Walkman at the pedestrian crossings in Tungelsta. We call him Herr Gårman, which is a pun as it can also be read as You Walk Here. The artist who once made the sign was Kåge Gustafson. The construction site in the background is part of the new housing area at Lillgården.

Winter returns

And then the phone rang
There I was enjoying a bit of Winter sunshine while relaxing on this bench that overlooks the Årsta Havsbad beach when the smart-phone rang. It was my flickr buddy Bengt who claims to be a traditionalist when it comes to eating "semlor". Which means that he can't have one before Shrove Tuesday! But after seeing a few of my photos of said pastry from my favorite cafe he phoned to let me know that he was on his way to Malmens konditori, and one hour later we were both enjoying a "minisemla".

Winter Beach
Inspired by Grace Down Under in Perth, I decided it was time for a visit to the beach. No need for sun protection at Årsta Havsbad yesterday, that's for sure. But there was a bit of sunshine from the blue sky and I counted a few people, including this young couple walking the dog.

Mudguard
If you are a keen cyclist you know that a mudguard can come in handy when you are out on the roads. Especially now when it is getting warmer again. Spotted this colorful bike parked at a bus stop near the hospital in Handen a while back. It was one of those moments when people nearby wandered what that guy with the camera was up to. Shot with the Canon 6D using the nifty fifty lens.

That Old Tree
Without further ado, here it is, my 500th photo of the old tree at Välsta. Luckily for me the sun returned yesterday and we had what must be described as a glorious (Spring), day. I took my first photo of the Swedish Whitebeam, (Oxel in Swedish), back in May of 2005. In December that year someone asked me to join the A Photo A Week group which I did. I then thought I finished the tree project in December of 2006 when I posted my 52th photo, but boy was I wrong about that. But I'm glad that I continued the project.

Graffiti Rock
Took a promenade at Nedre Rudasjön,(the Lower Lake), at the Rudan nature reserve today. Finally a day with a blue sky again. Although it wasn't as warm as the meteorologists had promised, I'm guessing around 2C. If you ever wanna launch yourself into the lake from a tree, (preferably during the Summer, not a good idea today as the lake is frozen), this is the place for you. During the warmer part of the year there's often a fire burning here and the kids will sit around the graffiti rock drinking beer and what have you.

FSotY
Do you find stuff when you are out and about? I do. For example, last summer I noticed a 500SEK note on the street. That was nice. A couple of days ago I spotted one (1), unused blue Nike sneaker at a pedestrian crossing. But that didn't do it for me. One hour later I found a pair of shades in the snow at Torvalla. I showed them off at the cafe, trying to impress the usual suspects. Not sure how well that worked. Later I googled the shades, hoping that they were very expensive of course. That wasn't the case. £3.99 at LIDL. FSotY means First Selfie of the Year.

Row House
Too cold for me at the moment. Not sure why as it was around 0C today and we had a blue sky for a few hours. This is an update from a while back. A new row house at Lillgården in Tungelsta. The first modular home of many to be build here by Turbinen. The yellow house that you can see in the background is known as Rosgården. It was once a real estate office. That was a little over a century ago when the first greenhouse nurseries opened for business in Tungelsta. Later one of the gardeners lived there.
