Female catkin
Swedish word of the day, that you probably can't pronounce correctly. Gråalkotte. Grey alder, female catkin. Around a centimeter long. The tree grows next to the path near the old tree.
Nice shallow depth of field. I like the details. up front.

Wonderful macro.. but how can you tell it's a female catkin?
ReplyDeleteGreat macro series, thanks for the Swedish lesson, I think I pronounced it well... Grrrrr agggghhh noty.
ReplyDeleteGotta ask--- And you know it's a female how?
ReplyDeleteI looked it up in a book, and then I googled a bit. But then again I could be wrong!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly stands out well.
ReplyDeleteI imagine my pronouncing the word would sound wrong.
How do you know this is a female?
