Theme day. The beauty of decay. This is Djurgårdsgrind. Decaying since 1922, give or take. That's when the Johansson family moved out from the property. This little cottage was were they first lived when they bought the land here in 1910. Their youngest son grew up to become a famous author. The last owner of Djurgårdsgrind was a couple that used the big house (not seen here), as a summer house. The property is on the market today and it can be yours for just 1 475 000SEK. For a peak inside the big house, check out the real estate brokers photos. Theme Day.
So cute! I love the stove.
ReplyDeleteSo what's that in Euros or dollars? I imagine you would have to spend quite a few crowns on the renovations.
ReplyDeleteA reminder to us Steffe that there is much beauty to be seen in decay .... beautifully captured.
ReplyDeleteNice choice for theme day!
ReplyDeleteso much potential..
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice house, and so abandoned...

It is too disappointing that a place like this stands empty. I love it!

I hope you're getting a real estate spotter's fee - looks like you've developed a lot of interest in this intriguing property!
ReplyDeleteI am supposed to visit two weeks from now to take some interior photos for the local historical association. Might blog a photo or two from that session.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like nature is slowly reclaiming this spot.
ReplyDeleteIt still looks great.
ReplyDeleteI don't want the big house, only the cottage... It's so perfect and will stand out nicely in the snow...
ReplyDeleteI could be very happy living in that little cottage...as long as the roof doesn't leak.
ReplyDeleteno matter the currency anything over a million is out of my league i am afraid.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a real cute house though. Pity.
That could be a lovely house to live in! I hope someone buys and restores it.
ReplyDeleteI hope someone buys it and restores it Steffe, its too sweet to be left to decay right away to a complete wreck !
ReplyDeleteGoes to show there is always life amidst decay, great find for theme day!
ReplyDeleteSomeone may buy the property and fix this wee place up a bit!
ReplyDeleteYou’ve made a great Theme Day post. I'm glad you picked this to share with us.
ReplyDeleteDon't know how many USD that is but it's a bit overgrown. Maybe someone will see the potential.

ReplyDeleteI was also picturing this little red house in the snow. I hope a human claims it soon. Nice choice for theme day.
ReplyDeleteThat could be gorgeous if it was renovated. But perhaps the real beauty here comes from the sunshine and shadows.
ReplyDeletelooking amazingly good for such a long time of decay!! no..?
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I really love it.

ReplyDeleteI hope they'll find a new owner who gives it the tender loving care it deserves.
