A sculpture called Playing Elephants, but I think Frozen Elephants is a better title today. The artwork was made by the artist
Bror Marklund. It's an early work by Marklund, who lived in Tungelsta for a few years. He later became one of Sweden's best known sculptors. The elephants can today be seen on the lawn in front of the library in Västerhaninge.
I bet the elephants are eager for Spring to arrive, too!
ReplyDeleteThis is like the little ancient elephant discovered awhile ago and now touring the world. Only it will be okay if this one defrosts.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder they were able to cross the alps.
ReplyDeleteDu har verkligen koll på trakten, dess kultur och dess historia. Jag är imponerad!
ReplyDeleteThis could be a monument to Hannibal's elephants. He tried to invade Italy (ancient Rome then) crossing the snowy Alps with a herd of pachiderms, with not great success.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet statue!
