Behind Bars
The first of ten planned, massive sculptures by Carl Milles, to be placed along the water around Stockholm a century ago. The rest of the group never made it. This one, called "Sjögudens glada stunder" can be seen at Skeppsbrokajen in Gamla Stan.
I went to his house/studio when I was there and it was wonderful. I have recommended it to other people who were heading over to Stockholm and everyone has enjoyed it.
So, more Swedish I am learning. Well, I won't remember it, but I know what it means now. He looks a bit seal-like to me....or maybe a walrus without the tusks and big moustache.
The happy moments of the sea god. For sure it's different.
ReplyDeleteNice that fence. Don't think anyone takes that under his arm in passing but it looks indeed different.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that there is some problem with the foundation here, hence the fence.
DeleteVery unusual to my eyes.
