It is 1880 and King Oscar II decides to have a pavilion built at the little island Kastellholmen in Stockholm. The reason being that the royals and the socialites need a place to drink hot chocolate after the ice skating on the frozen bay during the cold Winter days. So the architect Adolf Emil Melander came up with the idea for this building known as Skridskopaviljongen.
Over one hundred years old and it still looks brand new.
ReplyDeleteIts indeed a nice "little" building for the task of serving hot coco to the well to do.
ReplyDeleteIndeed it does look new. Imagine nowadays constructing such a place to have a cup of cocoa.
ReplyDeleteTo my eyes, the name of the building looks like if I said it, it would sound like a cat bringing up a hairball.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful building though.
Ha ha, I can see that, William. Probably easier to just call it the ice skating pavilion.
ReplyDeleteWow! It is lovely!
ReplyDeleteA fancy place to drink a hot chocolate.
