The Capercaillie and the Anchor can be seen on the official Haninge Coat of Arms. Symbolizing the forest,(we have a lot of that), and the sea,(we have a big archipelago). One of these symbols can also be seen on a few Viking Era runestones around Haninge. This updated and inclusive version can be seen at a playground at Eskilsparken in Handen. Most likely made by local school kids from a nearby school earlier this year.
The kids did a great job in designing the updated coat of arms.

ReplyDeleteI hsd to look up Capercaillie, and now I know. Sort of a turkey (I write from the USA, sorry.) But all in all, it's a handsome coat of arms. If one wants one.
