Closed between Bird Cherry and Lilac
There once was a cordwainer (skomakare), who closed shop this time of the year. He put a sign on the door. It read: Closed between Bird Cherry and Lilac. Stängt mellan hägg och syren. True or not, I don't know, but it's a fine story. The period between when the two plants bloom is for many Swedes their favorite time of the year. My grandparents had Bird Cherry on their veranda and I will never forget that fragrance. We used to sit there and drink coffee and my grandmothers home made "kubbar". I found this "Hägg" along the bike path in Handen yesterday.
I like this close-up.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful !
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeletePerfect macro Steffe, you need to give some advice in this area :) If it smells as good as it looks, fantastic!
ReplyDeleteTake a lot of photos Grace, with different settings. That is what I do. It was tricky to get the auto-focus to work here so I had to fiddle with it for a while.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty flower against a gorgeous blue sky.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite time of year too. A good time to shut up shop and have a break.
ReplyDeleteA perfect time of year to close shop!
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely, Stefan- terrific macro shot!
