I
ate my first
semla of the year two days ago. That was two weeks earlier than last year. Traditionally you would eat the semla on Shrove Tuesday, but no one remembers that these days. I bought mine at my favorite cafe, Malmens Konditori in Handen. They cost 30SEK and are the best you can get anywhere in Stockholm. I know that because Henrik, who owns the cafe has won a few taste awards over the years.
I have sworn off sweets. But this looks good.
ReplyDeleteIf I were close enough, I'd eat this too.
ReplyDeleteMmm, sweet post. ;)
ReplyDeleteHa here in the netherlands we have something called a "slagroomsoes" A little bun filled with whipped cream. It looks the same but is a rather sweet taste because the cream is always made with sugar. Also it is not coupled to a special festivity or day of the year but you can get it the whole year round.
ReplyDeleteI would gladly try one of these, they have a really interesting story!
ReplyDeleteI can understand WHY you could not wait for two more weeks!
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy!
Happy weekend!
Looks good enough to break the new year resolution for. Perfect with a 'Flat white' - an Australian white coffee.
ReplyDeleteIt looks absolutely delicious, waiting would've been torture!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I think we call that a cream puff.
ReplyDeleteWhy wait!
