One of the best things with my little Canon Ixus is the macro function. I took this cool shot of a preying mantis nymph while sitting on the bench outside one summer evening, reading a book and looking at the newly painted house. I posted this photo in a few flickr groups and within a couple of days it had more than 4000 views!
Original size.
I like your photograph. It clearly shows the praying mantis but that is easier to see on the full-size version. I wonder, sometimes, where to crop photos to suit the most needs.
ReplyDeleteIf you made it to my blog yesterday and left a comment on our 52nd anniversary, I would like to thank you now. Thanks.

It's a fantastic shot. No wonder you got 4000 views ;)
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteHey what’s that mountain he’s sitting on? ;)
ReplyDeleteCool!
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteBtw - which part of your body is he sitting on? You need to moisturize, dude ;-)
Thanks people. Yo Isabella, he is sitting on my left hand on my index finger.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it’s a “he”, Steffe? Remember we’ve got an entire Feminist Party who would love to challenge your gender perspective on that one… ;)
ReplyDeleteHa ha Per, you've got a point!
ReplyDeleteWonderful wonderful picture, I had no idea you could get preying mantas that small... a whole new world is opening up to me!
I don't think that's a mantis. It lacks the raptorial forelegs all mantids are equipped with and it also appears to have a beak. It may be the nymph of some Homopteran species, similar to an aphid. Great shot, though.
ReplyDeleteHurrah! A cropped version of this photo and another of my macro photos were published in the morning paper Dagens Nyheter DN today. If you understand Swedish or just wanna have a look you can do so here by downloading a PDF file.
