A photo of the Globe Arena at Johanneshov. Although the new name is Avicii Arena, it will always be known as Globen to me. I still remember my first visit, just a few weeks after it opened. I watched Sweden beat Canada in the Ice Hockey World Championships. This was my second photo of it on this day while at Hammarbybacken because after taking my first photo I noticed the worker who probably was fixing something on the gondola. Fun fact, the nearby highrise known as Skrapan would fit inside the huge sphere, which for many years was the biggest such building in the world.
Difficult to see indeed but what a great hall .It dwarfs everything in the foreground.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would love seeing that huge structure every morning when I woke up.
ReplyDeleteWithout zooming I couldn't see him haha! Not really into Avicii's music but terrible tragedy and so young too. :-(
ReplyDeleteHe was very popular, but I don't think I have ever heard any of his songs.
DeleteWay to the left of the photo perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHa ha.
DeleteI can't find him.
ReplyDeleteOur Skydome will always be the Skydome to me even though it has a corporate name now.
Top of the sphere, to the right of the antenna.
DeleteAn eggshell design. Very modern. Can't see any workers though.
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, that dome is huge! It looks like it could eat up those buildings in front of it.
